Austin American-Statesman Names Watkins Insurance Group A Winner of the Austin 2019 Top Workplaces Award for 9th Consecutive Year

Watkins Insurance Group has been awarded a Top Workplaces 2019 honor by the Austin American-Statesman. The list is based solely on employee feedback gathered through a third-party survey administered by research partner Energage, LLC, a leading provider of technology-based employee engagement tools. The anonymous survey measures several aspects of workplace culture, including alignment, execution, and connection, just to name a few.

Watkins Insurance Group Retains IIABA Best Practices Agency Status

Austin, TX – September 30, 2019 – Watkins Insurance Group, the largest full-service, locally owned independent insurance agency in Central Texas, has retained its status as part of an elite group of independent insurance agencies around the United States participating in the Independent Insurance Agents & Brokers of America (IIABA or the Big “I”) “Best Practices” Study Group.

Each year since 1993, IIABA and Reagan Consulting, an Atlanta-based management consulting firm, join forces to study the country’s leading agencies in six revenue categories. The agencies comprising the study groups are selected every third year through a comprehensive nomination and qualifying process and awarded a “Best Practices Agency” designation. The selected “Best Practices” agencies retain their status during the three-year cycle by submitting extensive financial and operational data for review each year.

“We are honored to have been a member of the Best Practices Study and to be grouped with such a respected collection of agency leaders,” said Patrick Watkins, Watkins Insurance Group President. “By being a Best Practices agency, we are able to share in the learning process for the benefit of all independent insurance agencies.”

More than 1,300 independent agencies throughout the U.S. were nominated to take part in the annual study, but only 267 agencies qualified for the honor. To be chosen, the agency had to be among the top-performing agencies in one of six revenue categories.

The Best Practices Study was initiated by the Big “I” in 1993 as the foundation for efforts to improve agency performance. The annual survey and study of leading independent insurance agencies documents the business practices of the highest performing agencies and urges others to adopt similar practices.

Watkins Shareholder, Matt Womack, Named To IIAT Board of Directors

Austin, TX – July 2, 2019 – The Independent Insurance Agents of Texas (IIAT) announced the election of five new directors during its annual business meeting at Insurcon, June 21, 2019. During that meeting, Watkins Insurance Group shareholder and agent, Matt Womack, was elected to serve on the board of directors.

“It’s an honor to serve of the board of the nation’s largest state association,” Womack said.  “As an agency, Watkins Insurance Group strongly believes in being involved in our communities and our industry both locally and statewide. It’s part of who we are. After serving as Young Agent Chair, budget/finance committee and Regional Vice President for a number of years for the IIAT PAC (Impact), I look forward to serving on the board. I hope to be a valuable member of the state association board and further our guiding principles of – Independence, Innovation, Consumer Interests, and Expertise.”

Matt Womack joined Watkins Insurance Group in 2003 and became a shareholder in 2008. Also in 2008, Matt was named the “Young Agent of the Year” by IIAT.
