It’s hard to think about the holiday season in Austin without thinking about the Trail of Lights. This family-friendly event is Austin’s brightest and largest holiday tradition, so where else would you find yourself this season? The Austin Trail of Lights is a rite of passage for anyone who calls this city home. Friends and strangers come together to enjoy the beautiful winter weather and indulge in the spirit of this city. From December 10th through the 23rd, thousands of people flock to Zilker Park for the display. You can enjoy live music, delicious local food, and wander amongst the two million dazzling lights as you stroll on the trail. With over 60 displays to view. you can easily lose track of time on the trail and be immersed in a celebration of light. There will be trees dressed head to toe in an array of colors. The multiple tunnels wrapped in lights will make you wide-eyed and feeling like a kid again. In true Austin fashion, the weirder the displays, the more we feel at home.

The Zilker Holiday Tree might be Austin’s pride and joy, but we think our display is one of the best. At Watkins Insurance Group, we understand just how important family is. What would be a better representation of what we believe in than a big picture frame to capture a family and friends gathering? Each year our display has people lining up to take their picture. The holiday season is about being with loved ones and we’re certain you won’t be at the Trail of Lights alone. This is a chance to take a photo with your loved ones on this unforgettable night. If you haven’t sent out your Christmas card yet, then this would be a good substitution. You might just make this photo op a yearly tradition!

With 32 of Austin’s food vendors and trucks to choose from, you will feel like you’re in CandyLand. Just make sure to wipe off the hot chocolate whip cream mustache before you snap a selfie! Sip on hot chocolate while you and your family walk in the North Pole in search of Santa’s House and Workshop. Bite into a tasty doughnut and see the lights from above while riding on the Ferris wheel. Arctic Point, Candy Cane Lane, and Zilker Village all boast their myriad of displays.

It will be hard to tell what you’re glowing from, all the lights or all the candy. Probably both! Either way, the Austin Trail of Lights is for your whole family. Indulge in the spirit of Austin and Christmas this season.
